Missions at FBC Basehor

Local, national, and international missions are a big part of what we are about at FBC Basehor. God’s Word is clear - we are to take the wonderful message of the Gospel to our neighbors here in Basehor, KS and all around the world! Below is a snapshot of a few of our missions partners. If you would like to know more information, please contact us using the form below.

Kansas-Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists

  • The Kansas-Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists (KNCSB), includes 12 local Baptist associations and approximately 460 churches.

Our cooperating churches are autonomous, and each church voluntarily decides to join the KNCSB in ministry and mission efforts. Gifts through the Cooperative Program and the Church Forward Missions Offerings make the missions and ministries of the KNCSB possible.

The Cooperative program is how we partner together in missions and ministry.

The Cooperative Program supports missions and ministries across Kansas, Nebraska, North America and around the world.

How does the Cooperative Program work?

Kansas-Nebraska Baptists adopt a Cooperative Program budget each October at their annual meeting. Month by month during the next year, churches send in Cooperative Program dollars to the state convention, which sends the money on to missions and ministry causes, according to the budget.

In short, the Cooperative Program is Baptists combining their financial resources to greatly increase the ministry and missions work they can do together, which would likely be impossible if churches worked alone.

Kansas City Kansas Baptist Association

  • KCKBA is an alliance of congregations representing seven different ethnic groups, worshiping in as many different languages, forming congregations in urban, suburban, small town, and rural areas. Organized in 1953, today there are over 50 Southern Baptist Churches working together in common service.

FBC Basehor is proud to be an active member of the KCKBA as we seek to make a Gospel impact in the greater Kansas City Metro Area.

Empower One

  • FBC Basehor is proud to partner with Empower One as one of our international missions partners.

Here is a little about Empower One:

We empower local leaders in the hard places of Africa to establish churches among the unreached and under-engaged peoples for generations to come.

After a 23-year civil war in Sudan in 2005, we started training church planters to reach unreached tribes and bring the good news of the gospel of Jesus to this land.

As the local church expanded, so has the reach of our ministry. Today, we operate a church-planting bible school with multiple extension sites; Our footprint has grown to five countries; We’ve preserved through another civil war in South Sudan and served refugees; And we’re abiding in Christ and partnering with Him to continue to bring more churches, more restoration, and more of His peace to more of the unreached in the years to come.

Mission Dignity

  • Mission:Dignity® honors retirement-age Southern Baptist ministers, workers and widows struggling to meet basic needs through advocacy and financial assistance.

Mission:Dignity is the heart of GuideStone® and has been at the center of our work since we started more than 100 years ago.

FBC Basehor is proud to partner with Mission Dignity. Each year, we make a sizable donation to help those who have served for so many years.

Operation Christmas Child

  • Each year, FBC Basehor takes part in the OCC initiative. In 2023, we helped pack over 100 boxes for the cause of spreading the hope of the Gospel throughout the world!

Below is a little more information about OCC:

    Mission

“Let the children come to Me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”

    Mark 10:14, ESV

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. Through this project, Samaritan’s Purse partners with the local church worldwide to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and make disciples of the nations.

    History

In the summer of 1993, Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham received a call from a man in England asking if he’d be willing to fill shoeboxes with gifts for children in Eastern Europe. Franklin agreed, but figured Christmas was months away. He forgot about the promise until he received a call back around Thanksgiving asking about the gifts. Franklin asked his friend, the late Pastor Ross Rhoads of Calvary Church of Charlotte to see if he could help with the need. A Sunday shortly afterward, Pastor Rhoads demonstrated for his congregation how to fill a shoebox with simple gifts and encouraged them to include a letter to the child as well. Within weeks, the church had 11,000 shoeboxes lining their hallways. Due to their generosity and additional gifts from Canada, Samaritan’s Purse sent 28,000 shoebox gifts to children in the Balkans that Christmas. Through these gifts, we communicated to children and their families what the angel said to the shepherds about Jesus’ birth: “I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people”

(Luke 2:10, ESV). Every year since, Samaritan’s Purse has collected shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items for children around the world. Since 1993, more than 209 million children in more than 170 countries and territories have received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox. The project delivers not only the joy of what, for many kids, is their first gift ever, but also gives them a tangible expression of God’s love. Tens of thousands of volunteers from local churches around the world partner with us to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ at festive outreach events where children are surprised with these shoebox gifts.

Disaster Relief

  • FBC Basehor is proud to sponsor and be part of the disaster relief efforts that go on all around the country!

From initial damage assessment to welcoming residents back into their homes, Disaster Relief volunteers are the first on the scene and the last to leave.

When you’ve seen a disaster on the news in the last 50 years, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) volunteers were already on the scene—and they remained long after news cameras left town. As the third-largest disaster response group in the nation, this network of state-based volunteers teams does more than just clean up; they bring the healing of Christ to those whose lives have been shattered.

Annie Armstrong Offering

  • The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering (AAEO) is the primary way Southern Baptists fund missions in North America. One hundred percent of gifts given to AAEO go to the field to support more than 2,400 missionary families serving across the United States and Canada.

Gifts to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering are used to train and resource missionaries in church planting and compassion ministries. Gifts are also used to create evangelism resources. New churches are being planted, hurts are being healed and lives are being transformed by the gospel because you give.

Each year, FBC Basehor makes a sizable donation to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering to help support the spread of the Gospel throughout the United States!

City Union Mission

  • For nearly 100 years, City Union Mission has provided warm beds, nutritious food and a place of safety for thousands of men, women and children looking to overcome poverty and homelessness.

Founded by Rev. and Mrs. David Bulkley, one of their primary reasons for beginning this evangelical Christian ministry was to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the hurting and the lost. Today, the Mission’s staff continues to uphold that commitment to serve as the Lord’s hands and feet to a community in need.

City Union Mission receives no government support and is not a United Way agency. The Mission depends solely on the gifts of God’s people – individuals, churches, groups, foundations and businesses who have a heart for the poor and homeless in Kansas City and want to partner with us in our ministry.

FBC Basehor is proud to partner with City Union Mission as we seek to make an impact on the people of the Kansas City Metro Area.

Joy Meadows

  • Joy Meadows is a foster care community just outside of the Kansas City metro serving foster and adoptive children in Kansas and beyond.

Joy Meadows's mission is to provide foster families with community support, housing, and resources so that children in foster care can find stability, healing, and joy.

FBC Basehor is proud to partner with Joy Meadows as we seek to make a Gospel impact in our community!

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering

  • SINCE 1918

What is the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering?

Lottie Moon was sent as a Southern Baptist missionary to China from 1873 to 1912. She saw firsthand the world’s greatest problem — LOSTNESS. Meeting so many people who had never heard the gospel compelled her to write letters to American churches describing the need for a greater missionary presence.

She pleaded for increased prayer and financial support to send and sustain more missionaries. This challenge became known as the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering®.

Each year, FBC Basehor makes a sizable donation to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering to help support the spread of the Gospel throughout the World!

Project Hope

  • In 1998, Project H.O.P.E. was established after a group of friends felt God calling them to help the poor in Nicaragua. The founding directors had been traveling to Nicaragua for a few years, but felt called to do more than build homes and return to the United States. There was a need to share the Gospel with the people of Nicaragua.

Project H.O.P.E.’s very humble beginning consisted of the directors and their wives traveling to Nicaragua and slowly others joined. Some trips consisted of camping in the mountains and bathing in the river. God has blessed Project H.O.P.E. greatly. Nearly 1,000 people travel with Project H.O.P.E. each year. A full-functioning base camp, H.O.P.E. Central Nicaragua was built in 2006. In 2015, construction was completed at H.O.P.E. Central Haiti. Both facilities serve as a headquarters for our in-country staff and housing for short-term mission teams.

Advice & Aid Pregnancy Centers

  • FBC Basehor is proud to partner with Advice & Aid Pregnancy Centers.

Advice & Aid Pregnancy Center helps women and their families make an educated decision about an unplanned pregnancy. We do this by providing evidence-based, medical information about parenting, adoption, and abortion. In many cases, an unplanned pregnancy is a very stressful situation.

Our staff provides a safe, confidential, and caring environment. We can help reduce the fear and worry you are experiencing through calm, non-judgmental conversation. Together we can eliminate any shame or embarrassment.

Where there are concerns about relationships, housing, finances, or general health issues, our staff has knowledge of many resources and organizations that can help.

That’s what our name means. We give the advice and information to women and their families so they can make an educated decision. And we provide aid in many ways, but primarily by being a good listener in a safe and loving environment.
